The new 32-bit SPC570S automotive microcontrollers are designed for the most demanding and safety-critical applications targeting the highest ISO 26262 ASIL-D Safety Integrity Level, such as ABS and airbags. SPC570S microcontrollers operate at speeds up to 80 MHz and offer high performance processing with low power consumption. Using SPC57 Premium boards, developers can quickly evaluate all the functionalities of SPC57 and SPC58 automotive MCUs. With the SPC57XXMB motherboard and its adapters, you get full access to all of the CPU’s I/O signals and the motherboard peripherals (such as CAN, SCI, LIN, FlexRAY and Ethernet) for advanced development. The optional programmable SPC5 Connect USB interface is a user-friendly way to control and monitor application signals.

Power Management and Protection
ST’s new AEC-Q101-qualified 650 V SiC 12- to 40-amp diodes feature a low VF at high temperature (175 °C) – at least 150 mV VF improvement versus 600 V silicon-based/ultrafast diodes – and a high-surge capability (IFSM ). Ideal for on-board battery chargers (OBCs) for hybrid and electric vehicles (HEVs, EVs), they prove superior efficiency as well as robustness. Housed in TO-220AC, DO-247 and TO-247 packages (with PPAP available upon request), their excellent thermal properties help to further improve overall vehicle reliability.
Currently sampling to lead customers, ST has extended its portfolio of SiC MOSFETs with the introduction of the 650 V, 22 mΩ typ (at 150 °C) SCTW100N65G2AG. The new device will complete the qualification to AEC-Q101 in early 2017 and features the industry’s highest junction-temperature rating of 200°C and shows a very small variation of the on-state resistance even at high temperatures for higher system efficiency. When used in the EV/HEV main inverter, it increases the efficiency by up to 3% compared with an equivalent IGBT solution, translating into longer battery life and a lighter power unit.
The STEVAL-ISA160V1 evaluation board is based on the AST1S31HF PWM synchronous step-down regulator, whose very high switching frequency (2.3 MHz) allows miniaturizing the magnetic components (i.e. choke). Operating on a 2.8 to 4.0 V input voltage, it provides a regulated output voltage from as low as 0.8 V up to VIN , meaning that the duty cycle can reach 100% (when VOUT = VIN ) thus optimizing efficiency. A Power Good pin gives precise feedback to the MCU preventing the system from starting before the output voltage is stable. All evaluation board components are automotive grade.
Designed for 5 V fixed output, the STEVAL-ISA189V1 evaluation board is based on our A6986F5V synchronous step-down switching regulator that can deliver up to 1.5 A and, with its 100% duty cycle ability to withstand cold crank events and wide input operating voltage range, represents the ideal choice for battery-powered automotive systems. The ESDLIN03-1BWY – housed in SOT323-3L – is a single-line ESD protection device designed to protect automotive equipment. AEC-Q101-qualified, it is suited for LIN or USB interfaces and much more as it combines a very-low capacitance (3.5 pF), a 300 MHz bandwidth and a 28.5 V breakdown voltage. Its excellent ESD and EOS capability makes it suitable for harsh environments since it exceeds ISO 10605 level 4, with 30 kV and reaches an IPP of 3.7 A (8/20 µs).
